The case for the Gun Shop Project, ASIST, QPR, and ITC is one of promoting cultural change. These programs are intended to reduce the negative stigma surrounding mental health and suicide; and shine a light of awareness onto these issues. Only through awareness and intervention will there be a reduction of deaths by suicide in Routt and Moffat Counties in the long term. Whereas SPA and free counseling support focus on those individuals with critical mental health issues, these four programs focus on educating and fomenting change in those who are not struggling with mental illness in the hope that they, the healthy, can support those in distress.
